At the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation, in the Research Unit of Geoinformation TU Wien is offering a position as student employee (all genders) in research/administration for 20 hours/week. Expected start: immediately. This position is limited to expected 31.12.2026 with the possibility of extend to a maximum of 4 years, but no longer than the completion of a master's or diploma degree.

 

We are looking for a motivated student assistant to support our Geoinformation Cookbook initiative. The role involves assisting with the development and maintaining educational notebooks and contributing to hands-on learning materials for students.

Tasks:

  • Support the development and maintain Python-based Jupyter notebooks
  • Support the implementation of data handling and analysis workflows
  • Collaborate via GitLab (version control, documentation, updates)
  • Collaborate with the Cookbook team of TU Wien (attending meetings, keeping communications, etc.)

Your profile:

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor's program of Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science or Geodesy.
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebooks
  • Familiarity with Git/GitLab workflows
  • Structured and independent working style


Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning
  • Interest in geospatial data and analysis

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade C of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 1,379.60/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week.
