University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

At the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics, Research Area Imaging and Instrumental Analytical Chemistry (E 164-01), a position as a university assistant (Post-Doc) is available in the Mass Spectrometric Bio- and Polymer Analytics research group (E164-01-1), limited to expected April 14th, 2029 for 40 hours/week with the following responsibilities. Expected start: March 2026
Thematic focus – Multimodal Mass Spectrometry Imaging:
- Collaboration on projects aimed at applying mass spectrometry imaging to medical and biological research questions
- Multimodal MS imaging in combination with data from LC-MS/MS experiments
- Further development of multimodal imaging, with a particular focus on high-resolution mass spectrometry
Tasks:
- Strong interest in scientific questions and motivation to conduct independent and goal-oriented research
- Research in the field of mass spectrometry in a bioanalytical context for the development of modern, innovative applications
- Independent teaching or participation in teaching and supervision of students
- Ability to develop methods and concepts, implement and evaluate them, and willingness to collaborate in interdisciplinary scientific projects
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research group, the research department, and the faculty
- Participation in associated research projects
Your profile:
- Completion of a relevant PhD (e.g., chemistry)
- Experience in project management and presentations
- Excellent knowledge in the field of analytical chemistry
- Very good knowledge of high-resolution mass spectrometry (FTICR MS)
- In-depth knowledge of multimodal imaging
- Knowledge of data processing for protein, lipid, and metabolite analysis
- Experience in teaching and publishing
- Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured approach to work
- Very good knowledge of English (C1)
- Interest and fun in research and working with students
- Ability to work in a team and problem-solving skills

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 5,014.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
