University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

40 hours/week | limited to 6 years

At the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, in the Research Unit of Probability, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant post-doc (all genders) limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: October 2026.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct a high quality research program in the field of Probability Theory. The candidate will also contribute to the teaching mission of the research unit.

Tasks:

  • Conduct high quality mathematical research in the field of Probability Theory, in one of the focus areas of the research unit Probability: statistical mechanics, discrete probability, random geometry, Markov chain mixing, Stochastic PDEs
  • Independent teaching or participation in teaching, in the Bachelor and/or Master programs
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research unit and institute

Your profile:

  • Completion of an appropriate doctorate
  • An excellent publication and research profile in theoretical probability
  • Experience in national and international research cooperation
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of German is not required but it is appreciated
  • Teaching experience in probability and/or statistics courses/tutorials and in autonomous organisation of exercise sessions and seminars will be appreciated

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 5,014.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
