University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)
30 hours/week | limited to 3 years
At the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, in the Research Unit of Variational Analysis, Dynamics and Operations Research TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (pre-doc) limited to expected 3 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: September 2026.
The successful candidate will be engaged in a joint project with the University of Brest and will be expected to spend an extended study period in France.
Tasks:
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students
- Research and project activity
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Completion (or immanent completion) of a masters degree in applied mathematics or similar
- Skillful and responsible in experimental work
- Experience in the following scientific fields: control theory, optimization and variational analysis
- Very good communication and text writing skills in English
- Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
- Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
