University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

20 hours/week | limited to 2 years

At the Institute of Analysis and Scientific Computing, in the Research Group for Mathematics in Simulation and Education TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc) limitited to expected 2 years for 20 hours/week. Expected start: January 2026. This position is also assigned to the group Innovative Methods and Models for Teaching and Learning at the Center for Strategic Development in Education.

Tasks:

  • Committed collaboration and support for management in implementing the project ‘Expansion of the Harmonisation Course Mathematics (AKMATH)’
  • Creation of course material as MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and study sessions for topics in applied mathematics, primarily in English
  • Developing electronic learning and teaching tasks in the field of mathematics and applied mathematics in German and English
  • Testing and documenting the electronic tasks developed
  • Developing a pool of tasks for different learning levels based on the topics covered by AKMATH

 

Your profile:

  • Completed doctoral degree in mathematics, preferably in applied mathematics or equivalent Austrian university degree or from abroad
  • General programming skills and experience in programming, preferably in Maple, MATLAB or Python or comparable development environments
  • Professional use of Latex is required
  • Experience in working with problems of applied sciences, where mathematics is used as a solution method is required
  • Experience in using learning platforms such as Moodle is an advantage
  • International experience is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility in projects
  • Very good teamwork and communication skills

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,466.50/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
