Technician (all genders) in the Department of Electron Microscopy

The Service Unit “University Service Centre for Transmission Electron Microscopy” at TU Wien is offering a position as Technician (all genders) in the Department of Electron Microscopy limited to expected 2 years with the option to extend for 40 hours/week or minimum 30 hours/week. The expected starting date is immediately.
Tasks:
- Design, setup, commissioning, and further development of laboratory infrastructure in the field of transmission electron microscopy and electron microscopy
- Independent operation and technical support, as well as independent maintenance and servicing of electron microscopes and associated peripherals, laboratory equipment, and utility infrastructure, along with independent troubleshooting
- Substantive and technical support, as well as collaboration on projects
- Training on equipment, machines, and systems as needed
- Active participation in the installation, adaptation, and maintenance of additional experimental setups
- Support in the procurement, management, and maintenance of equipment, as well as oversight of the materials warehouse
- Execution and documentation of organizational and administrative tasks related to laboratory and facility operations
- Responsibility for safety, maintenance, and operational documentation, as well as monitoring and reporting
- Collaboration in coordinating processes with users, manufacturers, and internal users
Your profile:
- Completed technical education, for example HTL, technical college, apprenticeship with additional technical qualification, or equivalent, in electronics, mechatronics, or related fields
- Interest in scientific instruments and high-precision laboratory technology
- Experience working with technical systems, measuring instruments, and vacuum technology is an advantage
- Structured, reliable, and independent working style
- Organizational skills and willingness to also take on administrative tasks
- Team player with strong communication skills and a sense of responsibility
- Excellent English skills and good German skills are an advantage
- Strong digital and analytical skills

Entry level salary is determined by the level IIIB of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 3,131.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
