At the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry, within the Cell Chip research group, a position as a University Assistant (Pre-Doc) in Organ-on-a-Chip Technology is available, expected to start in March 2026 (30 hours per week, fixed-term for an expected duration of 4 years).
Tasks:
- Participation in research and teaching activities as well as examinations
- Supervision of students
- Research and project work
- Deepening scientific knowledge
- Writing a doctoral dissertation and scientific publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance with organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Successfully completed, relevant Master’s or Diploma degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Chemistry, or a comparable discipline
- Solid experimental and theoretical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: cell culture, tissue engineering, biological engineering, microfluidics, mechanistic modeling, and computational engineering
- Strong interest in organ-on-a-chip technology, engineering-based approaches, translational research, and the interfaces between biological and mechanistic modeling
- Experience with discipline-specific software, e.g., CAD programs, image processing software, and biostatistical analysis tools
- Very good scientific working skills
- Interest in and willingness to supervise students; experience is an advantage
- Command in English at least at B2 level
- International experience desirable but not required
- Strong teamwork skills, ability to work independently, high problem-solving competence, and a strong sense of innovation

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
