University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

40 hours/week | limited to 6 years

The Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry, in the Research Unit of Applied Radiochemistry, has a vacancy for a post-doc University Assistant (all genders), expected to start in December 2025 (40 hours per week, expected to be limited to 6 years) with the following tasks.

Tasks:

  • Research activities in the field of nuclear science
  • Teaching and assisting with examinations
  • Project work and leading project groups
  • Publishing activities
  • Participating in and organizing scientific events
  • Supervising students
  • Assisting with third-party funding acquisition
  • Project management and project leadership
  • Establishing a safety culture in the radiochemical laboratories
  • Assisting with organizational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures

Your profile:

  • Doctoral degree in chemistry or physics
  • Proficiency of scientific work
  • Experience in project management or project leadership and with presentations
  • In-depth knowledge in the field
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner
  • Experience in teaching and publishing
  • Organizational and analytical skills and a structured approach to work
  • Industry experience is an advantage
  • Experience in handling open radioactive materials
  • Knowledge of how a research reactor works and its application for research purposes
  • Experience in nuclear forensic research
  • Language skills at the level B2 in both German and English
  • Interest and enjoyment of research and working with students, ideally experience in supervising and promoting young scientists
  • Ability to work in a team and problem-solving skills

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experience may increase the monthly income.
